Pacesetters

The Trust is committed to ensuring that working environments and practices are fair and free of discrimination and that Health inequalities are eradicated.

In 2007 the Trust supported the Department of Health and became one of three Ambulance Trusts to pilot the Pacesetters programmed. Ambulance trusts involved include :

  • East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust
  • South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust
  • East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust

Aims

The overall aim of the programme locally is to deliver equality and diversity improvements and innovations. On top of further training and education of staff, the Trust have five development initiatives to help reduce inequalities within the South West.

Key Personnel

Giovanna Edwards – Trust HQ Exeter
HR Business Manager and Pacesetters Programme Lead. Responsible for over seeing the five programmes and the main link with the SHA.

Louise Stokes – HR Exeter.
Supporting the Trust by ensuring that Equality and Diversity is embedded within the Trust and that we comply with all legislation.

Working to ensure that service users are involved in the design and provision of services.

Trevor Wayborn
Pacesetters Assistant Programme Manager. Supporting HR Business Manager with oversight of programme. Also project lead on Dealing with Health Inequalities in Farming Community of North Devon.

Mark Randall – ECP Exeter
ECP Exeter. Working in Devon to identify and Gypsies and Traveller groups that have historically had poor access to healthcare and a significantly reduced life expectancy.

Damian Nineham – ECP Dorchester
ECP Dorchester. Working In Dorset with local authorities, PCT and Traveller groups to improve access to Healthcare and reduce the inequalities. Provides an outreach service to Travellers and gypsies attending the Great Dorset Steam Fair.

Mike Bottone
Pandemic Flu and Business Continuity Manager. Working with Migrant workers in Cornwall to promote the signposting of services and working closely with other agencies in developing additional service provision.

Emma Marks
Paramedic Honiton. Working with Keystage 3 groups at school to look at the effects of drink and drugs. Linked to the Don’t walk away campaign.
