What are Governors?

Governors are the vital link between the Trust and its members, staff, stakeholders and wider public, ensuring that those they represent are heard throughout the Trust.

Why join?

If you care about healthcare provision in your local area, and your ambulance service.

If you would like to be involved and heard, letting the Board of Directors know what the public thinks of the service.

Governor Vacancies

Elections are being held for seats in Cornwall, Dorset and Gloucestershire along with vacancies in Bristol and B&NES and the Isles of Scilly.

The following Public Governors will be required from 1 March 2018

The Key Dates

  • Elections open Friday 24 November 2017
  • Nominations deadline 5pm Monday 11 December 2017
  • Notice of Poll issued Tuesday 2 January 2018
  • Voting packs despatched Wednesday 3 January 2018
  • Close of election 5pm Tuesday 23 January 2018
  • Declaration of results Wednesday 24 January 2018
  • Governor term starts Thursday 1 March 2018
  • Governor Workshop Thursday 8 March 2018

Prospective Governor Information Events

Workshops will be held in Dorset, Cornwall, Gloucestershire and Bristol - please contact us by email if you would like to come along. These will be maximum of an hour, providing an overview of the Trust, the role of a Governor, and allowing an opportunity to talk to Governors and the SWASFT team to find out more about the role and the election process.

Monday 4 December - Advent House, Victoria, Cornwall

Wednesday 6 December - Puddletown, Dorset

Thursday 7 December - Barnwood, Gloucester
