FOI requests

The Freedom of Information Act was passed in November 2000. The purpose of the Act is to promote greater openness by public authorities. The Act gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities, sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) acquired the former Great Western Ambulance Service Trust (GWAS) on 1 February 2013. Prior to this date, SWASFT covered Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. GWAS covered the former Avon area, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Where available, information is provided from the start of the post acquisition financial year.

The South Western Ambulance Charity, founded in 1995, uses gifted monies to benefit those in our communities who use our service and to improve the welfare of the staff and volunteers of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. 

Our charitable support covers Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire including Bristol and Swindon.
