Welcome to SWASFT

Trade Union representation

The Trust places great importance on having clear and effective communication with our employees. This is because having a positive culture with open dialogue that forms part of everyday practice is key to the delivery of safe and compassionate care.

From 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 the Trust has supported 41 Trade Union Representatives to undertake paid abstraction time to ensure our employees have the best support, advice and guidance from Staff Side Representatives, as outlined within the Trade Union Recognition and Facilities Agreement Policy.

The breakdown of Staff Side Representative abstractions and the support they are therefore able to give to their members is as follows:

% of working hours Representatives
0% of working hours 0 representatives
1 to 50% of working hours 35 representatives
51 to 99% of working hours 1 representative
100% of working hours 5 representatives

In terms of the total amount of hours invested into Trade Union activities, this amounts to 14,354, and the cost of this time is £329,654, which is 0.20% of pay spent on facility time.
