Welcome to Newly Elected Governors
Following the recent Public Governor Elections we would like to extend a warm welcome to our newly elected Governors and offer our congratulations to those which were successful in retaining their seats. Please welcome our following new Governors.
Terry Howard and Jacky Dockerty public governors for Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire
Terry is a founder and operations director of the Cheltenham Guardians Integrated Urban Safeguarding Team; he often works alongside ambulance crews. Terry is passionate about the community and looks forward to being given the opportunity to exceed expectations and bring together the powers of the community, Trust personnel and members.
Jacky has a history of working in emergency and acute care as a nurse for a number of years but getting an insight into the work of the Trust is something she has wanted to pursue some time. Jacky is currently a specialist safeguarding nurse and also a registered mental health nurse. Jacky is a team player and hopes to represent the public voice recognising the reality of the pressures.
Andy Nickolls and Wendy Lynch public governors for Somerset and North Somerset
Andy is a paramedic who was employed with the Trust for 29 years until he retired in 2015. Andy’s area of professional knowledge is in Mental Health and he understands how important it is to ensure the Trust provides the very best in care and treatment. Andy is passionate about the service and how he can be an advocate for the residents of Somerset and North Somerset.
Wendy has always been interested in healthcare provision and is an active member of her local surgery, Dunster and Porlock Patient Participation Group Committee, Peoples Panel, Friends of Minehead Hospital Committee and Healthwatch Somerset. Wendy wants to create a dialogue around the ambulance service to better understand users’ views to feedback to the Trust.
Roy Shubhabrata public governor for Bristol and Bath & North East Somerset
Roy is a firm believer in the free and universal healthcare beliefs on which the NHS was founded. Roy intends to bring a voice informed by the public to ensure efficient services to his constituency, without affecting the services to other areas.
We are pleased to announce that John Hawkins, Public Governor for Somerset and North Somerset and Ray Care, Public Governor for Bristol and BANES retained their seats for another three year period and we look forward to our continued work together.
