Can I take annual leave during my training?
100% attendance is required on educational programmes, and practice placements. There is no capacity to facilitate annual leave during any educational programme.
What happens if I am sick during my training?
Sickness refers to time away because of ill health. The correct procedure (see below) should be followed when reporting sick. All sickness will be managed under SWASFT’s sickness policy. Please contact our administrator asap if you are unable to attend day 1 of the course.
When will I know where and when my operational placements are?
You will be given your operational placement shifts by the course director in week one. These will be in your local county command area to where you have been placed.
When will I know where my driving course is to be held?
You will be sent this information by driver training either just before your course or during week one of your introduction week.
HR have requested that I bring some original documentation to be checked during week one, is this correct?
Any requests to scan or check original documentation can be facilitated during week 1 of your course.
When will I receive my uniform and ID card?
You will receive a uniform order form prior to your course which you need to email back to our admin. You will receive your uniform and ID card during week 1 of your course.
What clothing is acceptable during the course?
Until you and your fellow students all have uniform please wear comfortable smart casual clothes and footwear that you are able to lift safely in (Not high heels).
I do not have any IT devices at home, how can I access my online/virtual learning?
L&D have devices that can be loaned out to any students that require a device for the duration of their course.
Do I need to purchase a stethoscope or any equipment prior to my course?
It is not a requirement to purchase a stethoscope, as these are provided in the ambulance, however many staff like to purchase their own. SWAST will provide you access to the JRCALC clinical app.
