ECA Assessment Overview

It is important that you inform us of any specific learning needs prior or at the commencement of the course. The Learning and Development team is committed to supporting your learning. Please contact the administration team on  Learninganddevelopmentadministrationteam@swast.nhs.uk  who can arrange a chat with the course director and discuss support options.

Each student will be required to undertake:

- A short answer question/MCQ examination paper in manual handling

- A practical manual handling examination

- Practical OSCEs (Observed, Simulated, Clinical, Examination)

If unsuccessful you will be permitted:

1 (one) re-sit of the written paper and/ or

1 (one) re-sit of the practical element.

 

I want to reassure you that our LDOs will work with you and support you with any learning support you may require.

In preparation for your Manual Handling Assessment during Week 1, please refer to the assessment form so that you aware of the expectations of this element of your training.

Importantly, I want to draw your attention to the requirement of lifting a 70kg mannequin from the floor on a stretcher. I would advise you to start preparing for this – exercises focusing on leg strength are  strongly recommended.
