Ambulance colleagues run London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of staff charity
Five dedicated colleagues from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) are set to take on the iconic London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 12 April 2026, raising vital funds to support ambulance staff, volunteers and communities across the South West.
Sophie Morgan, Freedom to Speak Up Guardian; (Devon) Toria Ford, Emergency Medical Dispatcher Team Leader; (Bristol) Pip Jarvis, Lead Paramedic; (Dorset) Ed Tindall, Lead Paramedic; (Dorset) and Eloise Leonard, Newly Qualified Paramedic, (Dorset) will join thousands of runners as they take on the 13.1-mile route through the heart of the capital.
By participating in the landmark event, the team aims to raise significant funds for the South Western Ambulance Charity. The charity plays a crucial role in enhancing the wellbeing of ambulance staff and volunteers, strengthening community engagement, and funding initiatives that go beyond core NHS provision - ensuring teams and local communities receive support when they need it most.
Toria Ford, Emergency Medical Dispatcher at SWASFT, said: "Taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon is both exciting and daunting. Like many of my colleagues, I'm used to supporting others through challenging situations - this time it's about pushing myself physically and mentally for a cause that means so much to us all. The South Western Ambulance Charity makes a real difference to staff wellbeing and community projects across the South West, and I'm incredibly proud to be running in support of that work."
Louise Walsh, Charity Fundraising Manager for the South Western Ambulance Charity, said: "We are so grateful to Sophie, Toria, Pip, Ed and Eloise for taking on this fantastic challenge. Training for a challenge like this requires real commitment, especially alongside demanding frontline and support roles. Every pound they raise will help us continue delivering initiatives that benefit ambulance staff, volunteers and the communities we serve throughout the South West. We'll be cheering them on every step of the way."
