The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is inviting people of all ages to a free family open day at Cirencester Ambulance Station on Sunday 28 June 2026.

Running from 11am to 3pm, the event will give members of the public the opportunity to meet their local ambulance crews, explore emergency vehicles and gain an insight into the vital work carried out by the ambulance service and its partners.

To ensure the event is accessible to as many people as possible, a dedicated Quiet Hour will take place from 11am to 12pm, providing a calmer, reduced-sensory environment for visitors who may benefit from it.

Visitors will have the chance to step inside an ambulance, discover the specialist equipment used by crews to deliver emergency care, and learn more about how ambulance teams respond to patients across the region.

The event will also showcase a range of specialist teams that work in SWASFT's Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and on the Mental Health Response Vehicle in Gloucestershire. Representatives from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, British Association for Immediate Care (BASICS) Doctors and the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) will also be attending, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about their vital roles in supporting emergency care and rescue operations.

Joe Eamer, Clinical Team Manager at SWASFT, said: "We are delighted to be opening our doors to the local community and welcoming visitors of all ages to Cirencester Ambulance Station.

"Our open day is a fantastic opportunity for local people to meet the teams who serve their communities, learn more about the vehicles and specialist services we operate, and gain a better understanding of the work that takes place behind the scenes every day.

"We have a range of activities planned for families and visitors, and we look forward to showcasing our work while providing a fun, engaging and informative day for everyone."

SWASFT staff will also be providing free training on how to perform lifesaving CPR and they will be demonstrating basic first aid skills, including how to bandage a wound.

Alongside emergency vehicles and demonstrations, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities throughout the day, including a bouncy castle, and there will be hot and cold refreshments available to purchase.

Visitors will also be able to speak to ambulance staff about the wide variety of careers available within the ambulance service and learn more about the different roles that support patient care.

The event is free to attend and no booking is required.

SWASFT looks forward to welcoming the local community for an enjoyable day celebrating the work of the ambulance service and its emergency service partners.
