An Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) has won UK and Ireland Dispatcher of the Year.

The Duchy Health Charity has awarded the South Western Ambulance Charity a £6,315 grant to provide enhanced observation equipment to Community First Responder (CFR) groups across Cornwall.

Will Warrender, chief executive of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I know I speak on behalf of my colleagues and volunteers from across the South Western Ambulance Service when I say that we are all incredibly saddened by the news Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away.

The family and close friends of a Dorset Community First Responder (CFR) who sadly passed away last year have completed the fundraising challenge he was planning – by climbing Mount Snowdon while carrying a full emergency response kit.

Residents and tourists to the South West of England this summer are being asked to help Save Lives Together with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) and the region’s five Air Ambulance charities.
