Wiltshire paramedic crowned Commonwealth Bantamweight Boxing Champion
A South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) paramedic in Wiltshire has been crowned the new Commonwealth Bantamweight Boxing Champion.
Megan Redstall stepped into the ring in the Brentwood Centre, Essex on Sunday 15 February in a 10-round contest against a tough Kenyan opponent for the vacant Commonwealth title. Delivering a true boxing masterclass, she secured a unanimous victory and the prestigious Commonwealth title.
Alongside her role as a paramedic, Megan has been a professional boxer for the past 10 years, and this fight marked Megan's first major step up at championship level. Balancing the demands of being a paramedic with an intense and disciplined training regime has required exceptional commitment and resilience qualities she demonstrates both in and out of the ring.
Reflecting on her achievement, Megan said: "Becoming Commonwealth Champion is a dream come true. I've worked towards this moment for years, juggling night shifts, long days on the road, and early mornings in the gym. My job as a paramedic means everything to me as I have the privilege of helping people on some of the toughest days of their lives.
Boxing gives me a different kind of purpose and challenge, but both roles are about heart, discipline and staying calm under pressure. I'm proud to represent my colleagues and show that with dedication, anything is possible."
Winning the Commonwealth title has opened exciting new opportunities for Megan, with her sights now firmly set on challenging for British and potentially World titles in the near future.
